For anyone who’s been told they weren’t good enough…

Have you ever been fired, failed or told you weren’t good enough? Most people who have achieved enormous success have been, but went on to accomplish great things because they refused to listen to their critics or let their “failures” inhibit them from carrying out their life purpose. Below is a list of some of history’s most dynamic leaders who went on to prove the so called “experts” wrong….

Lucille Ball was dismissed from drama school because she was told she was too shy.

The Beatles were turned down by a recording company and told their guitar music is on the way out.

Ulysseses S. Grant was a failed soldier, farmer and real estate agent and at 38 years old he went to work for his father as a handy man.

Michael Jordan was cut from his high school basketball team.

A teacher told Thomas Edison he was too stupid to learn anything and he should go into a field where he might succeed by virtue of his pleasant personality.

Walt Disney was fired from a newspaper because he lacked imagination and had no original ideas.

Abraham Lincoln failed in business twice, had a nervous breakdown and was defeated in 8 elections.

One of the reasons these leaders went on to succeed is because they did not listen to the negative messages they heard from others. Further, they did not listen to the negative voices in their own head. Anyone who is pursuing greatness is likely to hear messages from others that they won’t succeed. Additionally, they are likely to even question themselves. However, when faced with these negative messages, it is important NOT to listen to them. Instead, listen to that still small voice inside of you that gently, but powerfully encourages you to remain true to your dreams and initial vision of success. Whether your dream is to own international real estate ( Sanmiguelsothebysrealty.com) , engage in sports team fundraising, or develop a cat grooming tool, or write a book, stay true to it and enjoy the process of pursuing it one day at a time.

  1. Very inspiring video, Matt. This is just another example of not allowing the opinions of others determine our destiny. We have the talents and abilities within ourselves to mold, shape and determine our own lives. Our value and our worth were established and blessed by God when we were born and no one can take that away from us. We are the creators that we wish to see in the world.

Thanks Phyllis for adding your insights…I really like what you say about our value and our worth being established and blessed by God…If we can keep that in perspective, then our life becomes so much more meaningful.

Thanks very much for your spiritual support! It makes me feel good “that I’m not alone”!
