How & What to Pursue in Life begins from an unfamiliar concept.Â
Have you ever heard of psychoanalysis in Korean medicine or Chakra? That is why readers with strong curiosity would try reading this while classical readers would hesitate to do so. However, almost everyone would probably nod at the stories in <How & What to Pursue in Life> regardless of the unfamiliarity of the terms used. It explains about how we should live our ordinary, daily life. It presents in specific details, what we should chose in life, and logically explains why such choice guarantees happiness. That is why the unfamiliarity of terms disappears as you get immersed, and your curiosity gets satisfied.
As you near the end, a question arises. How did the author realize all this? The author not only stops at explaining about how to live well but also states that if one lives well, one’s inner self grows, and the energy of the heart gets transformed. She says that a tetrahedron turns into a hexahedron, and then becomes a rounder regular polyhedron and then eventually a circular sphere. The change is due to the inner self continuously gaining a point after another by living life well. The author also presents the mechanism of such an increase.
In addition, she calls things we should choose in life ‘absolute values’ and limits them to nine. She says only those nine values are right choices. The criteria by which absolute values are determined are values that have the shape of a circle, and there are only nine of them. One gets to wonder, are they only nine such values and no others? Still, it is difficult to come up with other values that satisfy the criteria she presents.
Then, she pinpoints the effects on absolute values on the existence. For instance, if you practice faith-hope-love, then your cardiovascular system becomes healthy, and your mind can react quicker to instances. If you practice responsibility-mission-freedom, the health of your hormonal system improves and you become more creative. As such, it seems quite difficult to be able to present in details the effect of our various choices. How did she discover all this?
The epilogue answers this question. As a doctor practicing Korean medicine, the author pursued fundamental treatment of diseases, and based on the results of isolated cases, she explored the unconsciousness and completed the hypothesis she had. The methods used for the exploration of the unconsciousness are akin to the muscle-testing Dr. David Hopkins used to distinguish false from truth in <Power vs Force>. His publication of the exploration of the unconsciousness resonated strongly with the public, but such method is no longer deemed valid. The reason is because numerous errors occurred when the followers performed the same muscle-testing.Â
However, the author of How & What to Pursue in Life illustrates the reasons and mechanisms by which exploration of the unconscious falls into fallacy. She clearly reveals the conditions that help avoid errors. It seems as if the confusion she experienced during the exploration of the unconsciousness and processes taken to overcome it unfolds before the eyes. She also presents a scientific hypothesis on the physical phenomenon involved in the somewhat superstitious muscle-testing, which is profoundly interesting.Â
There is so much more to How & What to Pursue in Life. It talks about human minds, the growth process of our inner selves, shows Chakra that contain spiritual energy, presents the absolute values our spirit desires, and tells us the result of communicating with the solar system with absolute values. It has become clear after reading the book… How life is… and what we are…Â
