Discovering and Healing The Four Core Wounds To Align With Your Higher Self

Core wounds, also known as core beliefs or core traumas, are deeply ingrained emotional or psychological wounds that stem from significant and often early life experiences. These wounds shape how you perceive yourself, others, and the world around you. Core wounds can result from adverse life experiences, such as childhood neglect, abuse, abandonment, or other forms of trauma.

Core wounds deeply impact all areas of our lives, influencing our thoughts, emotions, behaviors, and relationships. They often lead to patterns of self-sabotage, self-doubt, and fear. These wounds can affect our ability to form healthy relationships, pursue our goals, and experience fulfillment. Chronic feelings of unworthiness, fear of intimacy, and difficulty setting boundaries are common manifestations of these wounds. In short, core wounds can hinder our ability to live authentically and reach our full potential.

My personal healing journey led me to this work because, as a highly sensitive person and empath, I was acutely aware of the pains and traumas within my mind and body. Despite my efforts with psychotherapy, meditation, and energy healing, nothing seemed to reach the depth I needed to truly heal. It wasn’t until the sudden loss of my father in 2016, which coincided with my graduation from a master’s program in counseling psychology, that I realized the extent of the inner work I had to do.

Through my core wound healing journey, I’ve discovered an authentic way of being and interacting with the world that has positively impacted all aspects of my life, including relationships, work, and personal growth. Joy, peace, love, and freedom from suffering are no longer distant, unattainable goals. I’ve found these qualities within myself and witnessed their emergence in every person I’ve worked with.

You, dear one, are an infinite soul with a purpose. As you peel back the layers of ego and heal your core wounds, you’ll align with your true, authentic self, vibrating at the highest energetic frequency. Embrace this journey of self-discovery and transformation, and watch your life blossom into a beautiful expression of your soul’s deepest desires.

What Does It Mean To Be Aligned With Your Higher Self?

Soul Qualities define your Higher Self, which is the pinnacle of your soul. These core qualities guide you toward a spiritually awakened life. By actively engaging with and nurturing these qualities, you’ll heal your inner child’s wounds, dismantle the barriers of your heart, and further your spiritual growth. As you evolve, you’ll embody the wisdom and love of your Higher Self, standing as a wise and loving leader of your inner world.

Let’s explore each of these qualities together:

  • Courage
    Embracing vulnerability and honesty.
Seeking support instead of facing challenges alone.
Harnessing courage to foster greater confidence and freedom.
  • Power
Exuding confidence and taking empowered action.
Demonstrating persistence and perseverance in your endeavors.
Drawing from inner strength and resilience to overcome adversity.
  • Trust
    Placing faith in divine timing.
Accepting and embracing the present moment.
Moving forward with patience and assurance on your chosen path.
  • Love
Extending empathy and understanding to others.
    Practicing compassion.
Forgiving past grievances to heal and grow.
  • Peace
Aiming for harmony in all things.
    Choosing tranquility over turmoil.
    Cultivating inner balance.
  • Freedom
    Expressing oneself creatively and authentically.
Remaining curious and exploring both your inner and outer worlds.
Living a life true to your essence.
  • Joy
Feeling a deep sense of contentment.
    Living with gratitude.
Recognizing and celebrating the interconnectedness of all.

Each of these Seven Soul Qualities leads to heightened intuition and greater wisdom. Our journey together is to activate these qualities within you. Imagine it like turning the lights on in the cave of your heart. There are likely times when you access these qualities without even realizing it. When we reflect on our most cherished moments, they’re often intertwined with one or more of these qualities.

To awaken them in your life, choose one quality that speaks to your heart, and commit to 1-2 daily activities to activate it. Once you’ve felt its impact, you can move on to the next!

How To Activate One Of The Seven Soul Qualities

  • Peace: Connect with inner calm through nature therapy, mindful breathing, and journaling.
  • Love: Open to self-love with affirmations, loving-kindness meditation, and acts of kindness.
  • Joy: Spark joy through gratitude journaling, creative pursuits, and laughter therapy.
  • Freedom: Tap into personal growth by setting boundaries, reflecting on your needs, and engaging in mindful movement.
  • Trust: Strengthen your foundation with self-trust affirmations, goal setting, and journaling about divine support.
  • Courage: Empower yourself with visualization, inspirational stories, and facing fears.
  • Power: Activate your inner strength using empowering affirmations, goal setting, and reframing thoughts.

The Inner Chatter: Exploring Your Internal Dialogue

Ever notice that constant chatter going on in your head? That’s your internal dialogue – the conversations you have with yourself. These parts of you inadvertently keep you from exploring the 7 Soul Qualities, as they seemingly cover up the natural essence of who you are.

This internal dialogue often comes from sub-personalities or ego states. But here’s a game-changer: these sub-personalities aren’t actually who you are. Your true self is your Higher Self – the essence of the Seven Soul Qualities and beyond. Once you understand and externalize these parts, you’ll experience a sense of freedom from the constant mental chatter.

By tapping into your Higher Self and recognizing these sub-personalities as just aspects of your being, you’ll step into greater clarity, empowerment, and inner peace.

How Ego States Manifest in Your Mind and Body

We all have different parts of our personalities that come into play in various situations. These sub-personalities develop as we grow, shaped by relationships, life events, and our deepest needs and fears, especially core wounds. As a brief description, core wounds stem from past experiences, unmet needs, or unresolved emotions—often from our inner child.

Healing these wounds is key to spiritual and emotional growth, leading to a greater sense of wholeness and heightened spiritual evolution. As I introduced in blog #1 of this series, once you discover your #1 core wound, you can dive deeper into the healing process through subsequent blogs.

Here’s something important: sub-personalities often act as protectors for your core inner child wounds. By healing these wounds, these protector parts can let go of old, unhelpful roles that might be holding you back.

So, what do sub-personalities look and feel like? They can manifest as sensations in your body, thoughts, emotions, or specific patterns of behavior. Some common sub-personalities include:

  • The People-Pleaser: Shows up as a knot in your stomach, a desire to make others happy, and difficulty saying “no.”
  • The Perfectionist: Manifests as a tense jaw, a need for control, and a fear of making mistakes.
  • The Inner Critic: Comes through as negative self-talk, feelings of inadequacy, and a constant need for external validation.

Do any of these resonate with you? Start a daily journal to track recurring thoughts, emotions, and sensations to uncover your sub-personalities. As you get to know these parts, you’ll create a more harmonious relationship with yourself.

And then you might explore: What parts of me are most prevalent? How does this impact my work life, relationships, health, etc.?
